Soccer Bingo Cards (Free Printable): 30 Match Cards + Picture Bingo

Soccer bingo turns a long match into something kids actually pay attention to. Everyone gets a card full of things that happen in a game (a corner kick, a yellow card, a goalkeeper save) and marks them off as they happen. Five in a row wins.

This pack has 30 different match cards, so a whole class or a full birthday party can play without two kids having the same card. There’s also picture bingo for little ones who can’t read yet, a calling sheet for the grown-up, and a blank card to fill in yourself.

It’s free, there’s no email sign-up, and it prints on US Letter or A4.

What’s in the Pack

  • 30 match cards (ages 7 and up). Each one is a 5 by 5 grid of things you’ll see in a soccer match, with a free space in the middle. No two cards are the same.
  • 12 picture cards (ages 3 to 6). Pictures instead of words: a ball, a whistle, a goal, cleats, a trophy and so on. A 3 by 3 grid, so it’s quick.
  • Calling sheet. Every picture square in one place, cut into slips, so a grown-up can call them out of a bowl.
  • Blank card. Write in your own squares. Kids are surprisingly good at inventing these.

How to Play Soccer Bingo

The rules are the same as normal bingo, just with soccer instead of numbers.

  1. Give everyone a different card and something to mark squares with.
  2. Watch the match. When something on your card happens, mark it.
  3. First to get five in a row (across, down or diagonally) shouts “Bingo!”
  4. Check the card together. If it’s right, they win the round.

That’s it. Some things you’ll want to agree on before kickoff: does a goal on the replay count (we’d say no), and does the free space count as part of a line (yes).

What to use as markers: coins, buttons, small stickers, or snacks. Popcorn and cereal work well. Fair warning, the snacks tend to disappear before anyone gets a bingo.

Three Ways to Play

During a match on TV

The classic way. Use the 30 match cards and play through a live game. A whole match is 90 minutes plus breaks, so you’ll probably get a few winners. Start a fresh round at half-time.

At a party, no match needed

Use the picture cards and the calling sheet. Cut the slips out, put them in a bowl, and a grown-up pulls one out and calls it (“Whistle!”). Kids find it on their card and cover it. Good for soccer birthday parties and preschool.

At a kids’ game

Bring a few match cards to a sibling’s game on the sidelines. Little brothers and sisters have something to do, and they start actually watching. Nobody needs to explain the offside rule.

What’s on the Match Cards?

The squares are all things kids can spot without knowing much about soccer. A sample:

  • Goal, corner kick, free kick, throw-in, goal kick
  • Yellow card, header, great save, penalty kick
  • The ball hits the post, a player falls over, a substitution
  • The referee blows the whistle, fans cheer, a high five
  • Goal celebration, the goalkeeper kicks it long, someone takes a shot from far away

There’s no “dramatic dive” or “crying fan”. They’re kid-friendly squares only.

Tips for Teachers and Parents

  • Laminate a few cards and use a whiteboard pen. They last all season.
  • Play blackout for a longer game: you need every square, not just a line.
  • Small prizes go a long way: a sticker, picking the next snack, choosing the half-time music.
  • Mix the levels in a class. Younger kids use the picture cards, older kids the match cards, and everyone plays at once.

I’m still not sure whether the match cards or the picture cards end up more popular. Our guess is the picture cards, purely because there’s a bowl and someone gets to be the caller.
