Soccer Jersey Template Kids Can Design (8 Free Printables)

This printable soccer jersey template for kids is really eight templates in one PDF. There’s a big simple shirt for little ones, a front-and-back sheet, a full kit with shorts and socks, a goalkeeper jersey, and a page for designing your own team badge. Print one, grab some markers, and let them invent a team.

It works for any game, any season. Club colors, school colors, a made-up team called the Purple Lightning Bananas. All fine.

No email needed. It prints on US Letter or A4.

What’s in the Free Printable Pack

Eight pages, roughly easiest to hardest:

  1. Big simple jersey. One large shirt outline with thick lines. Good for ages 3 to 5.
  2. Front and back. The whole shirt, both sides, so kids can plan the front design and the name on the back.
  3. Name and number. A back view with a box for the name and a big box for the number.
  4. Full kit. Shirt, shorts and socks on one page. The socks are where things get creative.
  5. Goalkeeper jersey. Long sleeves, plus a pair of gloves to match. Keepers usually wear a different color from the rest of the team, which is a nice thing to explain while they color.
  6. Team badge designer. Four blank badge shapes: a shield, a circle, a diamond and a classic crest.
  7. Mini jerseys. Six small shirts on one page. Great for a party, or for designing a whole team at once.
  8. Basketball jersey. A sleeveless vest, front and back, for kids who play more than one sport.

How to Use the Soccer Jersey Template

There’s no wrong way, but this order works well:

  • Pick the colors first. Two or three colors look best. Ask what their favorite team wears, or just what colors they like together.
  • Choose a pattern. Stripes down the shirt, hoops across it, a diagonal sash, two halves, or plain with a different color collar and sleeves.
  • Design the badge on page 6, then draw a small version on the chest of the jersey.
  • Add a name and number on the back. Their own, a sibling’s, the dog’s.

Older kids sometimes like to design a home kit and an away kit, which means printing page 2 twice. Fair enough.

Jersey Design Ideas

Not sure where to start? A few patterns real teams use (without copying anyone):

  • Vertical stripes. Thick stripes down the whole shirt, in two colors.
  • Hoops. Wide stripes going across instead.
  • The sash. One diagonal band from shoulder to hip.
  • Halves. Split the shirt down the middle, left side one color, right side another.
  • Checkers. Small squares all over. Takes a while, looks amazing.
  • Gradient. Light at the top, getting darker toward the bottom. Colored pencils are best for this.

And the option that tends to win: invent a team from scratch. New name, new colors, new badge. If the result is rainbow stripes with a dinosaur badge, that’s a good result.

How to Make a Soccer Jersey Out of Paper

Want a 3D one? This is the simple folded version, no template needed.

Take a sheet of printer paper and fold it in half lengthways, then open it again. Fold both long edges in to meet that middle crease. Turn it over and fold the top down about an inch, which will become the collar. Turn it back and fold the top corners in at an angle to make the sleeves. Finally, fold the bottom up and tuck it under the collar.

It takes a few goes to get right. Once it works, kids can color it with their jersey design and stick it on a card. If you want to string several together, our soccer crafts page has a jersey bunting with a printable template.

Ways to Use the Jerseys

  • Team party. Every kid designs a jersey and you hang them all in a row.
  • End of the season. Each player designs their dream kit and the coach picks a favorite.
  • Classroom. A design brief is a nice art lesson: pick a country, research its colors, design a kit.
  • Rainy afternoon. No reason needed.

I’m not sure which page gets printed most, but my guess is the mini jerseys, because one sheet keeps a whole table busy.

Soccer Jersey FAQs

How can I design my own soccer jersey?

Print a blank template, choose two or three colors and a pattern (stripes, hoops, a sash or halves), add a badge on the chest, then put a name and number on the back.

Where can I find blank jerseys for printing?

This page. The PDF has eight blank jersey templates, free, with no sign-up.

Is this the same as a football shirt template?

Yes. In the UK the sport is football and the jersey is called a shirt or a kit. This soccer jersey template works the same way.

What age is it for?

Page 1 is simple enough for 3-year-olds with help. The badge designer and full kit pages suit kids from about 6 up to 12.

Can I use it in my classroom?

Of course. Print as many as you need. Please don’t sell it or upload the PDF somewhere else.
